Improve the Activity Chooser User Experience
Overview
With the large number of activities available in Moodle the current experience can be overwhelming, particularly for new users.
Objectives
- Research how might we make this experience make more sense to all users.
- Categorize activities in an intuitive manner while preserving flexibility for their diverse purposes.
- Offer descriptive and useful information about each category to assist users in quickly understanding the capabilities of each activity.
- Enhance the existing activity descriptions to provide users with concise insights into the functionality, guidance on setup, and an overview of its appearance after creation.
- Ensure a helpful and user-friendly filtering experience to streamline the process for users seeking specific activities.
Prototype
- Figma prototype.
Issues
Phase 1: basic modal reshape
- MDL-85533 Activity chooser: add activity purpose filters and clean up code redundancies
-
- ??? Add filters to the modchooser modal.
- MDL-85599 Move the activity chooser back button to the modal header
- ??? Refine the activity chooser search and filters logic to match the prototype when one category is displayed.
- MDL-85593 Update the activity chooser templates to match the prototype
- MDL-85595 Adapt activity chooser tabs to mobile view
- MDL-80295 Modify the activity chooser to use section ID instead of section number
- Other general changes:
- MDL-85600 Change modal styling to match the current activity chooser prototype (will apply to all modals)
