MDL-47655-master -
When a student views an assignment, even an assignment that is not yet open for submissions, Moodle will indicate to the teacher that that student has made a submission.
- As a teacher create an assignment
- Check "View/grade all submissions" to confirm that the "Status" column reads "No submission" for each student
- Log in as a student and view the assignment but do not submit anything
- As the teacher again, refresh the list on the "View/grade all submissions" page
- There should be no change, but the status column now shows "New submission" for the student who viewed the assignment
- Still as the teacher go to the course main page and look at the "Recent Activity" block
- Unexpectedly, it will claim that the student who viewed the assignment has made a submission
It is probably worth noting that in the "Grading summary" on the main assignment page the number "Submitted" will be correct.
