I upgrade to moodle 2.6 and SMTP stopped to work. For example if I try to send mail with email_to_user I get error:
Error: lib/moodlelib.php email_to_user(): SMTP connect() failed.
message in moodle return error:
Error calling message processor email

I replaced current phpmailer with phpmailer of moodle 2.4 and the problem solved.
