MOODLE_311_STABLE
What happens now?
Currently, content authors update the course content sparingly and then need to send a detailed document outlining every update and where the updated content is located to translators.
There’s no reference to the old text and the translation is gone too, so they need to translate again from scratch or refer to their old translation in a separate system somehow.
What we want to happen?
Once in the translation modal (that appears when you click an edit icon). Translators can click to see a diff of the changes to the original English-language version between the last translated version and the current version. This shows them what needs to be updated in the translation.
- They can also click [Edit in context] from the Translation admin tool. Which takes them to the page where the translation occurs and loads the editor with the list of old version hashes and the ability to view differences between the latest edit and the last one that was translated.
Here’s a mockup of what this could look like:
- The editor shows the ‘current translation’.
- Clicking previous versions shows the previous text in a new window (indicated by ).
- The left hand content can be toggled between code view and rendered view (using the same javascript as Atto: https://github.com/beautify-web/js-beautify)
