If you are removed from the list for one of many reasons - the most common being too many bounces (non-deliveries) - you receive an email like this:

Your address (removed@removed) has been removed from list
securityalerts@lists.moodle.org, likely due to excessive
non-delivery reports for your address.

You can subscribe again :
sympa@lists.moodle.org?subject=sub%20securityalerts

Sending a message to sympa@lists.moodle.org with subject "sub securityalerts" returns:

Command has been rejected :

sub securityalerts

You are not allowed to subscribe to this list.

I have confirmed the sympa subscription privilege is set to "closed", currently the only way to subscribe is through the moodle.org registered sites process.

Should we enable email subscription to resolve this issue, or determine if its possible to somehow stop sympa telling people to subscribe that way ?
