Summary:
When hiding a SCORM activity grade item in the Gradebook, the grade for a user's attempt will still appear in the activity inside the attempt status text.
Other graded activities aside from Quiz (which controls this via the Quiz settings), e.g. Assignment, will not display the grade in the activity screen if the grade item is hidden in the gradebook.
Steps to replicate:
- Enrol one student in a test course
- Inside the course, create a new SCORM activity
- Name the activity
- Upload a working SCORM file like the one attached
- Ensure 'Display attempt status' is set to 'Yes'
- Save changes
- Navigate to the Grades tab and select 'Gradebook setup' from the dropdown
- Click the three dot menu in the Actions column next to the SCORM activity and select 'Hide' to hide the grade item
- Log in using the test student account and complete the SCORM
- Navigate back to the SCORM activity entry page
Observed result:
The grade for the SCORM is still displayed on the activity entry page:
Expected result:
The grade in the attempt status is hidden from student view
OR
An alternative setting is provided in the SCORM settings to only hide the grade within the attempt status
Notes:
The implication of the issue described is that there appears to be no method of hiding the SCORM grade for users, other than setting 'Display attempt status' to 'No' in the SCORM activity settings. However, this is less than ideal as other useful information inside the attempt status e.g. number of attempts/remaining attempts, will also not display for users.
Depending on what is intended functionality i.e. whether it is expected for any activity's grade to not display on the activity page if its grade item is hidden in the gradebook, this may be considered an Improvement as opposed to a bug.
