it would be great to have the possibility to link courses on all kind of repositories like in directories outside the "MoodleData". As per my understanding this functionality exists only if courses are stored in the file system folder or by using a Microsoft Plugin to connect with sharepoint for business. 

The possibility to directly select another directory can have the advantage to limit the size occupied on the hosting by the courses catalogue. On my side, for example, I have a copy of the catalogue in every installation.
