On the settings page of a Moodle Assignment or Assignment (Turnitin) activity, under the Grade section, there is a helper text pop-up next to the Grades field:

This helper text comes from the 'modgrade_help' language string located in ‎lang/en/grades.php.

We have had several users in our institution complain that the text is slightly ambiguous and it does not explain all options from the dropdown clearly. In particular, it fails to explain the ramifications of setting the field Grade to None.

In order to clarify the available options for this field, we have customised this language string to say the following instead:

"Select the type of grading used for this activity. If 'Scale' is chosen, you can then choose the scale from the drop-down menu. If using 'Point' grading, you can then enter the maximum grade available for this activity. If set to 'None', Simple Direct Grades cannot be entered, and Marking Guide/Rubric grades and feedback will not be visible to students."

We were wondering whether Moodle as a whole wouldn't benefit from improving this language string too. If you agree with this change, I am happy to submit a PR with the amended text.
