Testing

Install assistive tool like screenreader if you don't have it installed.

Login as admin

Go to course or create a new one if there is no course

Go to participants and add a new student "s1"

Logout and login as the new added student

Verify that you see one notification counter

Got to home page

Enabled the screenreader and tab through the menus in navigation to go to notification

Press enter to display the notification window

Tab through the menus to go to "Mark all as read" with check icon then press enter

Verify that the screenreader reads a message of "All notifications have been marked as read"

Tab to the next menu, which is the notification setting menu then tab back using (Shift + tab) to go back to "Mark all as read" menu.

Verify that the screenreader doesn't read the same message in step #11

Dynamic interface state not relayed to assistive technologies

The "Toggle messaging drawer" accordion's expanded/contracted state is not relayed to assistive technology.

The "Mark all as read" toggle button's active/inactive state is not relayed to assistive technology.

Impact on users:

When interface elements change state (e.g. toggling or expanding and hiding content), and this information is not relayed, users may fail to understand the change and miss content.
