Login as admin

Create a course with full name 'Calendar bug' and short name '~~MDL-84731~~'.

Navigate to Dashboard from header.

VERIFY the course filter dropdown in the Calendar is using only the course full name ('Calendar bug') as the option that corresponds to the newly-created course.

Navigate to Site administration and use the Search box to search for option courselistshortnames.

Set this option (tick the box) and save changes.

Navigate to Dashboard

VERIFY the course filter dropdown in the Calendar is now using both the course short name and full name ('~~MDL-84731~~ Calendar bug') as the option.

Change ~~MDL-81250~~ makes course selection dropdowns in the calendar show the course full name instead of short name.

On our setup this causes problems for staff because they have access to multiple presentations of the same course. The presentations have the same fullname, but different shortnames (e.g. fullname 'Introduction to airline management', shortname 'B747-25B'). So it is impossible to distinguish the courses.

I think the new behaviour should honour the courselistshortnames setting.

Description of that setting: 'If enabled, course short names will be displayed in addition to full names in course lists. If required, extended course names may be customised by editing the 'courseextendednamedisplay' language string using the language customisation feature.'
