Log in as admin

Navigate to Plugins > Activity modules > Assignment > Assignment settings in site administration

Under Default assignment settings set the following:

Grant attempts: Automatically

Navigate to a course

Add an Assignment activity

Expand Submission settings in module settings form

Set Allowed attempts to Unlimited

Confirm Grant attempts default value is "Automatically"

In 4.5, the Assignment activity has been updated to allow teachers to have additional attempts automatically granted (a 3rd option added to the previous 2). This can be selected manually by teachers in individual assignments. It cannot be set as the default for new assignments.

Go to Site Administation / Plugins / Assignment / Assignment settings.

Scroll down to the assign | attemptreopenmethod setting.

You will see the new "Automatically" option is not available.

I expected to see this option available to use as the default for new assignments.
