When using external database enrolment you can set a default template course to be cloned as the new course created in the assigned category. The field "enrol_database | templatecourse"  is used in the settings page "/admin/settings.php?section=enrolsettingsdatabaseI"  to select the shortname of the course that will be cloned into the new one, but the new courses are created completely empty and does not clones the template selected.
