Currently, the only two ways to configure the type of digest sent for forum discussions are through the Activities block or the user preferences.

However, many organisations and users don’t rely on the blocks drawer, leaving user preferences as the only option. The issue is that user preferences only allow a global configuration for all forum activities, meaning users can’t set different digest types for different forums.

Having to leave the forum page and navigate to user preferences to adjust the digest type disrupts the user experience. This is especially inconvenient since forum and discussion subscriptions can be configured directly on the forum page. Digest type settings, which are only relevant when subscriptions are enabled, should ideally be grouped with subscription options to create a more seamless and intuitive workflow.

Users need a way to configure the digest type for each individual forum activity directly from the forum page.
