Hi there,

In Moodle 4.5 there is an issue updating the assignment activity completion —at both: course and activity level— when multiple attempts are granted manually.

What to do:

1. Login as a Teacher:

        Create an assignment with the next settings:

        Submission

            Allowed attempts: 3

            Grant attempts: Manually

        Grade

            Set a Grade to pass

        Completion conditions

            Make a submission

            Receive a grade

            Receive a passing grade

1. Login as a Student:

        Make a submission for the assignment.

1. Login as a Teacher:

        Grade the assignment with a non-passing grade.

        Open manually a new attempt.

        Open the Activity Completion report and check that the status is empty (what is ok because there would be a second attempt).

1. Login as a Student:

        Send the second attempt for the assignment.

1. Login as a Teacher:

        Before grade the second attempt open the Activity completion report.

What is expected:

    As a student, the completion status of the three conditions should be updated as “To Do” when the assignment is reopened for a second attempt.

    As a teacher: the completion status in the “Activity completion report” should stay empty after student sent the second attempt.

What happens:

    As a student, the two grading conditions keep the status of the first attempt so, when the student sends the second one it looks like it is already graded, even if not. This makes it very confusing, I think.

    As a teacher: the completion status in the “Activity completion report” shows as “failed” after the student sent the second attempt but before it is graded. This makes it very confusing, I think.

I add some images, all by the student’s point of view:

• A couple after the first attempt is sent (activity & course level).
• A couple for a second attempt granted with first attempt graded & before the second one is sent (activity & course level).
• A couple after the second attempt is sent but before it is graded (activity & course level).

Note: The same happens with the settings:  “Grant attempts automatically until pass” and “Automatically” (new in M4.5).
