Based on where the process to add a new course starts, the user could get a 'Save and return' button, apart from the 'Save and display' button. This issue will remove the 'Save and return' button whatever the place where the user started the process.

• Site administration > Course > Manage course and categories > Create a new courses
• Site home > Turn editing on > Add a new course

And any other place where you could create a new course in Moodle.
