Install an activity plugin that supports group mode and that can be used without a view page (e.g. mod_learningmap from https://github.com/mebis-lp/mod_learningmap or mod_board from https://github.com/brickfield/moodle-mod_board in embedded mode).

Confirm the group mode button appears on the right side when hovering there.

If you have an activity without a view page that supports group mode (e.g. mod_learningmap or mod_board in embedded mode, have a look at the screenshots), the button for group mode is placed in an inconsistent way (on the left side instead of the right side).
