When a lesson essay is interacted with using Chrome + JAWS and Firefox + JAWS and Chrome + NVDA (all latest releases), the essay text edit box is not properly editable to the screen reader user. Users are having to use workarounds such as typing in Notepad and pasting into the box with assistance.

      Steps to Replicate:

      1. Create a basic lesson activity in a course
      2. Add an Essay question type in the lesson
      3. Using the browser and screen reader combinations, navigate to the lesson essay text box and note that the user cannot type when entering the edit box

Video of behavior using JAWS attached

      Considerations:

We have tested this on a vanilla site although the video above is using the Moove theme. We have tested this in Chrome with JAWS and Chrome with NVDA and Firefox with JAWS, all latest releases.
