The Timeline and Upcoming events are two quite similar blocks, but none of them gives "the complete picture" to the user:

Timeline

• Does not show events created directly in the Calendar

Upcoming events

• Does not show overdue assignments without Cut-off date (since it is only showing upcoming events)
  but also:
• Has no filters or search
• Needs another click to show what course the event belongs to
• Needs another click to take action

The only way for now to show everything is to use both of them, but since they are so similar that is confusing as well as ugly.

Suggestion
Show also events created in the Calendar in the Timeline, so that Timeline tells it all.
