The character limit in the short name of courses is currently 255

This prevents using multilanguage code for the name on a site where more than 2-3 languages are used.

Can this be improved?

Lifting the character limit is one option but best would be to have as many fields for the shortname as there are languages on the site to easily enter the names.

This affects also other fields, so maybe a general approach to make language handling easier would be good.
