Hi!
Manage authentication (Site administration > Authentication > Manage authentication) is a long form and I see the advantages of autosaving things but having things that autosave, things than don't, things that when you change change automatically other fields, .. IMHO it is not consistent and it is quite confusing:
- 1) Automatically saving things (or not)
- Enabling/disabling things using the eye on 'Available authentication plugins' saves changes without needing to use the 'Save change' button AND without acknowledging it (the typical 'Changes saved' in green background is not being shown)
- If you change something on 'Common settings', for example showing or hiding 'Guest login button' (guestloginbutton), it does NOT automatically save until the admin clicks on the 'Save change' button. And when they do they see the typical 'Changes saved' in green background
- 2) Are 'Email-based self-registration' and 'Self registration' (registerauth) related or not?
- If you disable 'Email-based self-registration' using the eye on 'Available authentication plugins', the 'Self registration' (registerauth) on 'Common settings' is automatically changed to 'Disable'. And if you check in a different browser 'Create new account' is not there. [Coherent]
- If afterwards you decide to enable 'Email-based self-registration' using the eye on 'Available authentication plugins', the 'Self registration' (registerauth) on 'Common settings' will NOT automatically change to 'Email-based self-registration' [IMHO the site admin won't realise that has NOT changed] AND if you check in a different browser 'Create new account' is not there [IMHO not coherent and really confusing for the admin who just thought they enabled it..]
- So once the site admin realises that even if they just enabled 'Email-based self-registration' using the eye on 'Available authentication plugins', they need to change the 'Self registration' (registerauth) on 'Common settings' manually to 'Email-based self-registration' and then remember to click on the 'Save changes'
Thanks for your time!
Isabel
PD It already happened (at least 3.5 onwards, probably before..)
