MOODLE_311_STABLE
Recently, when I decided to post my videos in forums, my Vimeo videos had problems (see Vimeo Problem 01). I explored this with Vimeo's tech support and they said that they changed Vimeo's privacy settings. You might make more sense out of what they said to me than I can, and I am wondering if Moodle can implement what Vimeo's tech support suggests.
I want to keep my videos Private, and I want to be able to take Vimeo's URL link and put it into the ATTO Video tool.
Yes, there are workarounds. One can make Vimeo videos be public, which I think is not very desirable in Education. Or, one can use "Hide from Vimeo," which means a video can ONLY be used embedded, and cannot be viewed on Vimeo even with the direct URL, which also doesn't seem desirable.
So I am wondering if this is bothering others? Is there an easy fix?
Below is what Vimeo wrote to me:

Hi Rick,
For additional security, we’ve recently introduced a new privacy hash into the embed code of videos going forward. The player link will not function without the additional code, which is present in your full embed code, but easy to overlook.
When copying and pasting your embed code, be sure to include the string of letters and numbers after the ‘h=‘ parameter in the embed code.
As an example, they’ll look like this:
h=5c4dedfc34
Also, if you've added any other player parameters to your embed code, be sure to include them after the privacy hash using `&` to combine it (rather that `?`).
Links to private videos themselves, on the other hand, will have the hash at the end of URL, without the 'h=' parameter.
So as an example, if a video has a privacy hash of 'h=9ea73a6a07', then the link of the videos will look like this: ** [*https://vimeo.com/123456789/9ea73a6a07*]
For now, some embeds may still work without the privacy hash, but as time goes on, ultimately all private embeds will require the ?h parameter to remain private. Not including the privacy hash will lead to the video not being available for viewing wherever it's embedded.
To clarify, Private link protection was never intended to work with embeds and used for private viewing on Vimeo.com. However, embedding with the a private link was previously possible. Now with the new privacy update, videos that are set to Private will need to use the new embed code that includes the privacy hash for successful playback.
Generally, a field that asks for a URL will not read an embed code, or will strip any additional parameters out of an embed code because it can only read the URL. For this reason, we highly recommend using the full embed code rather than a URL link when embedding videos.
If this is not possible, you may try adding [[ New hash URL link ]] instead of [[ private link ]].
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Sincerely,
Ray T.
