When adding a custom field (but this can be generalised elsewhere in each form where a shortname has to be entered), there should be suggested forms of the shortname for the field, obtained from its display name.

For example: "My field 1 : extra field", there could be a suggestion of "myfield1_extrafield" for the shortname.

This could help to generate unique names more easily.
