First, let me start off by saying that we have been attempting to work with OpenLMS as we are their customers. They suggested this was an intentional change and to report this using the tracker.
In 3.7.3, due to the implementation of https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-60474, instructors using the "Grade" button to grade assignments (or using a link from a notification from a PLD notification) may appear to have no assignments to grade if a first name/last name filter was applied previously. This has presented a workflow issue and has increased troubleshooting with instructors to locate the assignments that need to be graded.
- Locate an assignment.
- Click "View all submissions"
- Set a first name/last name filter.
- Leave the course for a period of time (minutes, hours, days, weeks...)
- Return to same assignment to grade and press "Grade" (make sure there are submissions needing grading)
- Notice that you get "No Users Selected" at the top of the grader screen (as long as the alphabet filter does not match a submission needed to be graded)
- Get confused and make sure that filter is set to "Requires grading." It is. After all, you pressed "Grade."
- Click "View all submissions."
- Note that it may say "Nothing to display" even though filter says "Requires grading"
- Press "Reset table preferences" and remove the first name/last name filter you likely forgot that you set so long ago.
We realize this was intentional design, however, if there was a "Reset Table Preferences" button on the "Grader" screen or some type of notification that a first name/'last name filter was already set, it would avoid confusing instructors. Most instructors grade multiple courses and it is difficult to remember that a first name/last name filter was set for a specific assignment after time has passed.
