      1. Log in as admin
      2. Check that the standard log is enabled in site admin > plugins > logging > manage log stores. Enable it if it is not already enabled.
      3. Create an 'S' size course in site admin > development > make test course
      4. Log in as one of the students in the course and read a few of the posts in the activity Forum (section 0). Remember the name of the student or write it down, you will need it later.
      5. Log in back as admin and go to that same forum activity, click on the forum admin 'cog' icon and select Summary report
      6. You SHOULD see a Number of views column. All the values SHOULD be zero but the one of the student you used above, the column for that student row should have an integer value (it depends on how many forum posts you saw)
      7. Open a new tab. Disable the standard log in site admin > plugins > logging > manage log stores. Also, check that the legacy log is disabled
      8. Refresh the forum summary report tab
      9. You SHOULD NOT see a Number of views column

Add a column to the forum summary report to show "Number of views", the number of posts each user has viewed.

This will probably require checking log entries to determine a user's read count, which would mean the column should only be shown if the site is using an internal log store. An example of similar log checking and data calculation can be seen in this report.
