Log in as admin Create a course, a user, and enrol the user into the course as a student. In the course, create a forum: Name it forum1 Set the forum type to "Standard forum displayed in a blog-like format" Go to the forum1 forum and create a new topic by clicking on the "Add a new topic" button. Write "topic1" in the subject field, and "message1" in the message field, and then click on the "Post to forum" button. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to create another topic (this time write "topic2" and "message2"). Click on the "discuss this topic" link of the "topic1" topic Click on the reply link and write something and hit submit. Go back to the course page and create another forum Name it forum2 Set the forum type to "A single simple discussion" Go to the forum2 forum Click on the reply link and submit a reply Click on the last "reply" link on the plage, and submit another reply Log out Log in as the student Open the user menu (click on the student's name at the top right of the page) and select "preferences" Click on the "forum preferences" Set forum tracking to "Yes: highlight new posts for me" and click on save changes Go to the course and then go to forum1 Verify that the title of "topic1" and "topic2" are highlighted Verify that you see "1 unread post" for "topic2" Verify that you see "2 unread posts" for "topic 1" Verify that the texts in the previous step are highlighted Click over "2 unread posts" Verify that the title of the first post in topic1 is not highlighted and the title of the second post in topic1 is highlighted Reload the page Verify that the posts in the topic 1 are no longer highlighted Come back to forum1 Verify that the title of "topic1" and "topic2" are no longer highlighted Verify  that there is no text about unread posts for "topic1" Verify that there is no text about unread posts for "topic2" Go back to the course main page, and then go to forum2 Verify that the title of all the posts are highlighted Reload the page Verify that the title of all the posts are not highlighted
