Use ngrok or similar to make your site available from internet Go to site administration>registration and register a site with moodle.net Go to the same page and try to update your registration, registration should be updated Run scheduled task "Site registration", registration should be updated Disable php module xmlrpc (it is recommended but not required for moodle). For example, on Ubuntu: sudo apt-get remove php7.0-xmlrpc (+restart apache) Go to site administration>registration and register a site with moodle.net, registration should be updated Run scheduled task "Site registration", registration should be updated Edit the DB directly and modify token in table mdl_registration_hubs Try updating registration again (both ways), make sure the error message is displayed Enable xmlrpc back To check if your registration was definitely updated, you need to ask somebody with admin rights on moodle.net to check it Registration on master is not currently possible because of pending pull request MDLSITE-5185
