Autocomplete form element clips the placeholder text

      1. Copy test_autocomplete.php to your Moodle root directory.
      2. Open test_autocomplete.php on your browser.
      3. Check the placeholder text of the autocomplete form element.
        • Confirm that you can see the whole text.
      4. Reduce the width of the browser window down to about 350px.
        • Confirm that the appearance of the autocomplete form element still looks okay.
        • Confirm that the placeholder text will have the text that has been cut off replaced with ellipsis "..."

      If you set a long text for the autocomplete form element as its placeholder, the text will just be clipped since the input element of the autocomplete element is set to a fixed size. This defeats the placeholder text's purpose which is meant to help the user understand what the autocomplete element does.
