I wanted to use the forum module in a HelpDesk

pseudo-course to allow students to pose questions

or provide comments to our Helpdesk. Since we

use an external authentication method (pop3) any

student can participate. But, if they wished to

remain anonymous, the guest option would not work

for us, because guests can't post to forums.

I propose a course instructor be able to choose if

guest users could participate in that course's forums. This presupposes that guests were allowed

into the course to start with! Perhaps this should be selectable per-forum? I recognize that

inviting anonymous posts might also require constant vigilance for appropriate content!

I have made minor changes to accomplish this, for

forums within a specific course. I will set the

URL below to where I will place the context-diffs.
