My classes have just started today, so I am not sure how long this problem has been around.

The Advanced Forum Search tool appears to not be working in the most recent version (Moodle 3.2.1 (Build: 20170109) ) of Moodle. I have a forum called "Introduce Yourself." I used to be able to use the Advanced Forum Search tool, pick this forum, and see all posts. Right now, nothing is returned.

I did try picking this one forum and also clicking on the start date (way back to 2000). When I do this, all forum posts for every student and every discussion topic is shown (meaning not filtered correctly.)

This same problem is occurring on my MAMP install with the same current version of Moodle.

This same problem is occurring on my MoodleCloud install with the same current version of Moodle.

I was running Moodle 3.1.3+ (Build: 20161202) last semester and did not have this problem. So this could be a Moodle 3.2 problem.
