      1. Log in and click the message popup icon next to the user menu.
      2. There should be a link to create a new message.
      3. Clicking this link should take you to the messaging page.
      4. Check the following on the messaging page:
        • The search box says "Search for a user or course"
        • Seaching from this box actually searches for either a course or a user and not a message.
        • The contacts pane shows contacts and not messages.
        • The "Contacts" tab at the bottom is highlighted instead of "Messages".
        • The header gives a suggestion of searching for a contact to message.
      5. Now navigate to the message page from the user menu (User menu > Messages).
      6. Check the following:
        • The search box says "Search messages"
        • Seaching from this box actually searches for messages and not courses or users.

        • The "Messages" tab at the bottom is highlighted instead of "Contacts".
      7. Open the message pop up box and select a message.
      8. Check that it takes you to the messaging page and shows the message.
      9. Open the message pop up box and click on the "See all" link at the bottom.
      10. Check that it takes you to the message page in the same way that clicking on "Messages" in the user menu does.

The messaging drop down works fine when you have messages, but there is no way to start a new conversation with someone.

I suggest either of these in the dropdown:

      a) A "Show all messages" link somewhere above or below the recent messages list.

      b) A "Send a new message..." link at the top of the recent messages list, which goes direct to the Contacts tab in the main messaging interface.
