Moodle Calendar defficient in a Blended Learning environment. It has no support for event location. Moodle should be able to aggregate calandar data from multiple sources including API inserted and iCal import events along with native events within Moodle. Moodle should be able to display this complete information set to the user thus Moodle can become a single portal point for learners at an institution. Moodle should be able to republish the fully aggregated calendar as a standards based feed for consumption in other services and devices.

Current issues that need rectification are:
1 Imported calendar data (via iCal feed) in which event location information is within a LOCATION: clause, doesn't display location information in the Moodle calendar block.
2 Imported calendar data (via iCal feed) in which event location information is within a LOCATION: clause, has the location information stripped from the source iCal feed upon re-export from the calendar block.
3 No capacity for teaching staff to make site/group/course level event within Moodle requiring a physical location in a format that can export in a standardized format (iCal) with location data in the correct standard LOCATION: clause.

      Points to consider

      • Moodle could omit a location field in the calendar block display if location data is not present in the event
      • Many institutions are providing learners with access to cloud services such as MS Office 365
      • Many learners already use cloud groupware such as Google calendars/Gmail/iCloud/office365 and consume these services on multiple devices
      • Major cloud based groupware providers permit calendar import via iCal feed
      • Institutions need to provide a consistent calendar to users no matter where it's viewed.
      • Teaching staff have access to calendars withing Moodle that are consistent with both virtual and physical teaching commitments.
