This wasn't really fixed properly in MDL-46819, but I decided to create a new issue sot hat I could release..

      1. Create a course with two assignments
      2. Go to the gradebook.
      3. Make sure that the aggregation is set to Natural.
      4. Set the weight of the first assignemnt to -10
      5. Set the weight of the second assignment to 120

Observer that the weight end up as 0 and 109.091 and not adjusted to total 100 as the message says.
