Create three forums: Forced subscription Automatic subscription Optional subscription Enrol only two users in the course with valid e-mail addresses that you can check Login as user 1 Open the Forced forum Post a new discussion Open the Automatic forum Post a new discussion Open the Optional forum and subscribe to it Post a new discussion Log out and log back in as user 2 View the Automatic forum Unsubscribe from the forum Subscribe to the discussion Post a reply to the discussion View the Optional forum Subscribe to the discussion Post a reply to the discussion Add to your config.php $CFG->maxeditingtime = -1; Run cron or the forum task Check your e-mail For user 1, you should have: A message from the forced forum with no unsubscription options Two messages from the automatic forum with forum unsubscription options and discussion unsubscription options Two messages from the optional forum with forum unsubscription options and discussion unsubscription options Two messages for user 1 for each forum: For user 2, you should have: A message from the forced forum with no unsubscription options A message from the automatic forum with discussion unsubscription options A message from the optional forum with discussion unsubscription options Also check that the Plain-text versions of those e-mails is also correct Also check that the unsubscribe forum and unsubscribe discussion links work Log in as user 2 Disable Javascript Open the Optional forum Subscribe to the forum from the link in navigation Confirm that you were subscribed to the discussion Unsubscribe from a discussion in the forum Confirm that you were unsubscribed from the discussion Unsubscribe from the forum Confirm that you were unsubscribed from the forum Subscribe to a discussion in the forum Confirm that you were to subscribed to the discussion NOTE: If MDL-47903 is not integrated, then user 2 will receive two messages instead of one for the automatic and optional forum cases.
