The current messaging system allows users to search the entire Moodle site for other users. For many Moodle installations, this is not a desired behavior. The suggested improvement would be to provide a course only messaging option. In theory, the admin would be able to choose whether messaging is available on a site-wide basis or only within courses. When available only within courses, students would only be able to messages other students in their course (possibly from the Participants page) and not be able to search the site.
