      Install Moodle v2.6.1
      Using IE8 navigate to course page.
      JavaScript error is raised.

      Unfortunately, according to several sources IE8 still represents a very sizeable 20% of web browser market share. Therefore, IE8 cannot be ignored and efforts must be made to maintain compatibility with this significant user base.
