List of auth related improvements targeted for 2.5 such as:
1/ adding unit tests necessary before any changes
2/ cleanup of outdated plugins
3/ standardisation of coding style

There are multiple know design issues in the authentication subsystem, this issue is for maintenance of current API - no big changes.
