Testing Instructions:
1. Enable developer debug level
2. Start creating new course
3. Make sure no notices are displayed on create course form

When creating new course I get a notice:

Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in .../course/format/lib.php on line 590

I use PHP 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.4
