Make it clear that Role: None in the enrolment UI means "No roles", rather than "A role called none".
I'm not really sure if this is a bug, but we just noticed that "None" is an available selection when assigning roles to users in M2.x. You can also give someone the "None" role in a course by deleting their assigned role, without unenrolling them from the course. What we have observed on our home server, and confirmed on the Moodle 2.x demo site, is that a user with the None role can see and access the contents of a course website even if Guess access is turned off in the course settings. They cannot take quizzes, submit assignments, or read forum posts, but they can download files and follow links.
Are there any other special privileges that the "None" role has? I can't find it in Users > Permissions > Define Roles, so we have no idea what other special abilities it may have. Can anyone help us figure this out? What is the purpose of this role?
