Right now, when using Moodle's add "File" option, and when you go to the Add area, you are given the Alfresco repository, which is fine, but instead of creating a link to the file, it is grabbing a copy of the file and adding it to Moodle. Hence, if you make a modification to the file in Alfresco, no changes are reflected in Moodle. The end user has to remove and re-upload the file. If you ask me, that defeats the purpose of having a repository system.
This is not how Blackboard's Content System works. When you pick a file from the Content System, it grabs a link to the file, yet to the Faculty end user, they see it as a file that they are grabbing to bring into the course. Therefore, when the file is edited in Alfresco, the changes are reflected in the course
