My feedback could enable students to indicate how useful they find the feedback for each assessment, which would help staff understand whether they need to provide more help or not. This could be done by allowing students to click on a smiley face indicating how well they understood the feedback for each assessment.
E.g.
- frowny/wobbly smile face: I don't understand this
- neutral face: I'm unsure what this means
- smiley face: I understand this
Given the way My feedback links to assessments, this would only be possible at an overall feedback level within My feedback; however this would still benefit staff and would also help staff remember which feedback they found useful so they can return to it later when completing the next assessment. Allowing students to comment on what they found useful or what they still need help with, alongside the smiley face indicator, would add further information for tutors to help them improve their feedback and support of students' learning.
An example, at a more granular level (for each distinct piece of feedback on a piece of work) follows. A tool called Edword allows students to indicate how useful their feedback is using three smiley faces - a bit like what you see at airports where you can select how you found the services. Jump to 2'09 in the Edword demo video for an example of what this might look like.
