Version: Moodle 2.6 (upgrade from 2.4, July 2014)

Issue: Section name includes “week date range” when section is orphaned. (This is very confusing for our students)

My process: I create sections for each chapter with its resources and activities and I label the section. I do this because I often need to use to the same resource/activity in a number a different sections, including tab displays, labels, etc …
Then, I orphan these sections and create links to the activities/resources.

This course begins July 7 and ends the week of Sep 1-7.
All sections beyond the week Sep 1-7 are orphaned.
In Moodle 2.6, when I view the Quizzes page, the orphaned sections are displaying the label I created (correct) and the week date range (incorrect).
This did not happen in previous versions of Moodle, only the label displayed for the orphaned section.
I’ve attached a backup up this course. If you restore it in 2.4 and 2.6, and compare the Quiz page (or any page from Activities block) you’ll see the difference.

Course Settings: 9 sections (weeks), though I have used 25 sections. This allows me to put the resources/activities for each chapter in a separate section.

In Moodle 2.4, the section name I created was included here rather than the default (section 11)

Notice the quiz due dates do not coincide with the section label date.
The orphaned-sections should not display the date, it should only display the label/name I created.
The “Quiz closes” date is the true date, not the date included Section name.

Example from Resources Page: These Resources are in section 10, which is orphaned.
“Resources” is the section name I created (correct)
Date range “September 8 – September 14” should not be displayed, this is an orphaned section.
